Deep ruby color. Aromas of stewed fruit and spices. Supple tannins with a pleasant lingering finish. Semi-carbonic fermentation in a temperature-controlled environment. First racking before MLF. Cuvaison for 10-14 days to allow the pulp, skins and juice to ripen.
70% of the total is aged in the fermentation tank for 12 months, the remaining 30% is pressed juice, and aged in barrels used for 3 years. It is then bottled and allowed to settle. The Domaine is run by father and son Gerard and Gilles Juran. Gerard is the fifth generation, and initially rented a vineyard from his father and started making wine. 1968 was the first vintage, and he later took over the vineyard from his father and grandfather, and the Domaine now covers 21.5 hectares. The vineyard is 40 parcels, each with its own unique high-quality soil, and by blending them together, the wines have a complex aroma and flavor. They aim to grow the wines in as natural conditions as possible, and ferment for a long period of time. They aim to make Gamay wines that are natural yet have a solid structure that can be aged for a long time. The Domaine is located just south of Fleury and north of the town of Lancie.
It is also used in famous restaurants in Paris.
