“Coyotes are part of the natural ecosystem of Howell Mountain Vineyards.
A coyote's year-round diet is primarily meat, but when they start eating grapes, they know it's harvest time.
The term Coyote Loser comes from a reference to winemakers who quit their jobs midway through harvest.
From the first nose, Coyote exudes ripe aromas of dark berries, Chambord, and sweet tobacco.
Muscular yet well-defined, the palate offers blackberry paste, concentrated plum juice and intense toasty cedar notes.
An instantly appealing young Cabernet with great harmony and plenty of fruit to last for years to come.
With an incredibly long finish that stretches out over several minutes, this winner can be enjoyed now or cellared for decades to come.
Located at an average altitude of 610m and blessed with a unique micro-climate, our vineyards receive favourable exposure to sunlight from the east, north and west.
When Napa Valley is covered in fog, Howell Mountain gets sunny but cold during the day.
Average rainfall is twice as much as the rest of Napa Valley, and the unique soil, a mix of volcanic ash and red earth, is well-drained.
This slight difference causes Cabernet Sauvignon vines to struggle to produce small bunches of tiny grapes.
Small grapes have a high skin to juice ratio and produce wines with high tannins and a deep color.
The 2021 growing season saw very little rain, making it one of the drought years on record.
The result was record low yields and small, intensely flavored berries.
Fortunately, the harvest went smoothly and without any problems.
The highest quality Napa at the best value...The Vice: A sense of sin, a bad habit - something that gives me guilty pleasure, something that's bad for me if I do it in excess but brings me happiness if I don't do it too much, something that's necessary to live a happy and productive life...wine is my Vice.
The Vice is a brand that produces small batches of high quality wines from Napa Valley.
We brew our wines from single grape varieties hand-selected from vineyards that offer the best expression of the grape variety and region.
The brand was born from passionate people, sustainable agriculture, expertise in the wine industry and an understanding of modern consumer tastes.
Owner and chief winemaker, Malek Amaroni, was born in Morocco and studied medicine before his passion turned to wine.
After a tough life in New York and a successful career in the wine industry, he pursued his winemaking dreams and released his first vintage in 2013.
He personally collects the grapes from the fields, transports them in trucks, crushes them by hand, bottles them, and designs the labels together with his wife Tori, who is also a designer.
He will also be appointed to the Napa Valley Vintners Board of Directors in 2023, becoming the youngest member of the board, and as one of Napa's most promising producers, he is committed to offering wines of outstanding quality at the most attractive value.
