This is the pinnacle of Ladd's wines, dedicated to the late founder Leslie Ladd, and is a powerful wine created through dedicated farming and brewing magic in the very unique Mount Veeder vineyards (high ground, steep southeast facing slopes).
Mount Veeder is a 6.5 hectare estate located at an altitude of 490m, near the top of the mountain. Aged for about 2 years in French barrels (27% new barrels). Intense forest aromas and herbal nuances. The characteristic resin, moss, and refreshing coniferous wood (minty) of Mount Veeder are always present. The mouthfeel is silky smooth, the tannins are powerful and robust, but the overall balance is exquisite.
Vintage Information
The 2017 VTG season saw plenty of rain in the winter and spring, and buds sprouted well. However, there were hail and heat waves afterwards, but the weather became mild in September. The Merlot harvest began in mid-September, followed by the Cabernet Sauvignon, and finished in early October.

Tasting Comments
The deep purple color and intense forest aroma will make you dizzy.
Nuances of dried cherry, black currant and Provencal herbs emerge one after another.
The fresh fruit flavors of black currant and black cherry spread throughout the mouth, and the refreshing (minty) resin, moss and coniferous notes that are characteristic of Mount Veeder are always present.
The mouthfeel is silky smooth, the tannins are powerful and robust, yet the overall balance is exquisite.
The finish is very long with sweet cocoa and nutmeg spice notes giving it completeness at the end.
This wine will be enjoyable for many years to come and will continue to age gracefully for the next 10 to 15 years.
