TASTING
This wine is characterized by its lively acidity and the pure flavor of red fruits. It has an elegant style, although it does have a heavy alcohol content, which is common in other Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines.
COMMENT
Like Marcel Lapierre and Pierre Auvernoy, Texier has been producing terroir-focused "natural wines" since the 1990s.
We produce wine mainly from the very small AOC "Côtes du Rhône Brezem", which is about 23 hectares in size.
This wine is made primarily from old Grenache vines planted in 1904 on the sandy north-facing La Crau plot near Chateau Layas. The wine also contains 5-10% Mourvedre. Although it is not publicly disclosed, the vineyard also contains a small amount of Alicante Bouchet.
WINEMAKING
Fermented in concrete tanks with whole bunches. No sulfites used during vinification. Then aged in wooden barrels for 18 months.
