Black grapes with acidity before they are fully ripe are harvested in late August from Ream Estate in Stags Leap and Fairla Vineyards in Coombsville (co-owner). This is a rosé made from white wine. Fermented and aged at low temperature. After a small release in regular bottles in early summer 2021 (La Fe Rosé), it will be re-released in this beautiful bottle in spring 2022 (tank aging is six months longer). The name Precious Twin comes from the two brother wines with different release timings and the fact that the Mayan snake god depicted on the label is worshiped as a pair or twin. Pale salmon pink. Vibrant citrus aromas, raspberry, and floral aromas rise up in abundance. It has a slightly firmer body than a normal simple rosé, and is dry with excellent acidity.
A special wine exclusive to this vintage that will revive the tragic year of 2020
Napa Valley was hit hard by two wildfires at the end of August and the second half of September 2020. Several facilities, wineries, and fields were lost, and smoke filled the valley. The grapes for white wine, which had already been harvested, were spared, but most of the grapes for red wine were affected by the smoke. After repeated verification, Ream decided to give up on producing all red wine in 2020. Only this rosé wine and the white wine Fedelio were saved from the tragedy.
Immediately after the wildfires at the end of August, the winery decided to make rosé from grapes (which were not yet ripe enough to make premium red wine, but were not immaturely green) that they had test harvested from two of their own vineyards, where they manage the cultivation themselves and can decide the harvest at their own discretion.
However, Ream's belief is "to create the finest works of art from the best vineyards in Napa Valley, to explore and pursue the potential of each vineyard, and to express the individuality and truth inherent in the land in the wine," so rosé was thought to go against this concept, and the question of whether to release it was an issue for consideration.
After that, they decided to give up all red wine, and the brewing of this rosé, which requires more delicate temperature control than ever before, also played a role in cheering up the depressed staff of Ream. This rosé, the first one completed in 2021, was excellent and confirmed to reflect the characteristics of the two company vineyards in the southern part of Napa Valley, which are affected by cold fog and wind. And above all, they decided to release it, judging that "it's too delicious not to bottle it!"
After a small release in regular bottles in early summer 2021, it will be re-released in this beautiful bottle in spring 2022. The name Precious Twin comes from the fact that these two sibling wines will be released at different times, and that the Mayan snake god depicted on the label is worshiped as a pair or twin.
The color is pale salmon pink. Lively citrus aromas, strawberry, raspberry, and floral aromas overflow from the glass. The taste is spicy with herbal nuances (fennel, white pepper, bouquet garni) and a variety of complex elements overlapping, and it has excellent acidity compared to ordinary simple rosés, resulting in a dry finish. Medium-bodied and dry. The aftertaste also leaves a pleasant spice and red berry flavor.
label
This work was created by Silvia Ji, the label designer for Ream's Sauvignon Blanc "Fedelio," who created the label, depicting a beautiful angel taking flight, after fully understanding the concept of this rosé. It is inspired by Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent god of the ancient Aztec civilization of Mexico, or "God of the Dawn." The design represents rebirth and the morning star, and is colorfully colored to match the image of the rosé, and also depicts the golden rays of the sun, a symbol of Aztec culture. The original work is painted with acrylic and gold leaf on birch wood. (In the Mayan civilization, he is also the incarnation of a snake, worshipped as Kukulcan.)
