Tasting Comments

It has an impressive aroma of creme de cassis, chocolate, fragrant baking spices, and charcoal grilling, and is rich and full-bodied. The flavor expands from the inside of the mouth, with an abundance of ripe fruit, beautifully mellow tannins, and elegance.

Typical of Georges the Third, it has a perfectly balanced combination of rich fruitiness, well-integrated tannins, and a rounded, distinct structure.

It can be enjoyed early on with decanting and is sure to evolve beautifully over the next 25 years or more.

Beckstoffer Vineyards, Georges the Third Vineyard Special plot (12 acres)

It is recorded as having been planted by Mrs. Thomas Rutherford in 1895.

It was purchased in 1928 by Georges de Latour, founder of Beaulieu.

Called Beaulieu Vineyard No. 3, it became the basis for the wines produced by Andre Tchelistcheff.

In 1988, Beckstoffer Vineyards purchased the vineyard and replanted it with new clones, altering the trunks and training to improve both quality and yield.

In 2009, the approximately 75 hectares of planted land became subject to land protection, and all development other than agricultural was permanently prohibited. This vineyard is so valuable both historically and in terms of its quality that everyone wants to make wine from it.
