Aged for 22 months in French barrels (50% new barrels). Located on the westernmost side of Pritchard Hill, overlooking the volcanic, iron-rich soil that continues to the Dalla Vallee and Screaming Eagle vineyards in Oakville, this wine has a fascinating concentration of rich red fruit, fully conveying the charm of the pure fruit.

Vintage Information

Sustained rainfall throughout the winter and spring kept the soil well-watered, the warm spring days gently nurtured the tender new shoots, and from mid-August to September the last of the summer's heat allowed the grapes to ripen well.

The harvest took place from October 7th to 18th, giving us the luxury of time to assess the grapes' ripeness and pick them at the ideal timing. This set us apart from the previous few vintages, which had earlier harvests, and the wine was dense, rich, and rich in color and expression.

Tasting Comments

Aromas of perfectly ripe mulberry, bay laurel, blackcurrant and red tobacco leaf are complemented by flavors of boysenberry, fresh plum and cherry.

A beautifully balanced, powerful wine.

Fresh, powerful and poised, this is our best ever wine and will provide decades of enjoyment.
