Located at the foot of Mount Veeder just northwest of Napa City. It has a lot of rocks and gravel, but also a certain amount of clay, so it has water retention, and is close to the bay, where a cool breeze blows. Aged for 20 months in French barrels (75% new barrels). Deep color, black currant, blackberry, pencil lead, wet rock, and fresh herbs are fragrant. Full-bodied with various elements overlapping, lively acidity, firm tannins, dark chocolate, and pepper nuances linger on the finish.
