Kongsgaard's second selection, released only to important customers on the mailing list. Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon.
KINGS FARM
KONGSGAARD is a brand named after the owner John Kongsgaard's surname. The Kongsgaard family immigrated from Norway five generations ago and put down roots in Napa. Kongsgaard is a Norwegian word. When we created the second selection of the Kongsgaard brand, we named it King's Farm.
It is not released every year, but only when there is a good year, a good harvest, or after the selection of the first brand Kongsgaard, there is a cuvée worthy of release, but production is limited.
They offer Chardonnay and red wine, but for the 2018 vintage only the red wine was available for import.
Kings Farm label
Kongsgaard's ancestors were from Hallingdal, a valley in eastern Norway, and his motif is a mural of a king on horseback painted in 1225 on an interior wall of the Torpo stave church, a rare wooden church built there during the Middle Ages that is representative of Norway and is one of the few to have survived to the present day.
Technical information
Vineyards: From contract farmers at the southeastern edge of Napa Valley on Atlas Peak, where the soil is high and cool, volcanic, and of the same quality as our own vineyards.
Brewing: The same brewing method as Kongsgaard. The barrels that were not selected for Kongsgaard in the final barrel selection are used. Depending on the vintage, some barrels will not be selected for Kings Farm. This is how strict the selection process is.
Tasting Comments: Dense and concentrated, yet silky and fine on the palate, it fully inherits the powerful yet never dull, muscular and robust quality that is characteristic of Kongsgaard Cabernet.
