L'Orangerie means greenhouse. Planted in 2015, 0.48ha, yield 51hl, lutte raisonnée, clay-limestone, southeast facing, 230m above sea level, fermented in oak barrels with an 8% slope, MLF. Aged 12 months in oak barrels and 6 months in stainless steel. This is a new domaine created in 2012 with joint investment by Olivier Meurlan of Domaine Meurlan, a top domaine said to be the leader in the Maconnais region, and Dominique Lafon, owner of Domaine Comte Lafon, a top domaine in Meursault and a great dry white wine maker in Burgundy. The Clos des Carles vineyard, located at the southernmost point of Pouilly-Fuisse, is a historic vineyard that dates back more than 100 years, and as soon as Mr. Meurlan and Mr. Dominique stepped into the vineyard, they immediately felt the potential and greatness of this vineyard. Overlooking the Saône River, this century-old vineyard is a monopoly surrounded by a long series of high stone walls (Clos).
The oldest vines in the 2.23ha vineyard were planted almost 100 years ago in 1917. They decided to pool their experience and know-how to create a wine that would surpass any Pouilly-Fuisse ever produced.
