A well-balanced aroma reminiscent of white peach. The nuances of oak are also elegantly felt. In the mouth, a distinctive iodine flavor is felt, highlighting the depth and elegance of the flavor. Aged 8 to 10 years It can also be aged. To protect this historic plot and given the very high age of the vines, Merlan takes a very rigorous approach.

Organic farming, no chemical herbicides, hand harvesting. The wine is made by Olivier and Dominique Lafon at the Merlan winery in La Roche-Vineuse. The grapes are pressed directly and lightly débourbage in stainless steel tanks. Oak barrels are used for alcoholic fermentation and MLF. This new domaine was jointly established in 2012 by Olivier Merlan, owner of Domaine Merlan, a top domaine in the Maconnais region, and Dominique Lafon, owner of Domaine Comte Lafon, a top domaine in Meursault and a great dry white wine maker in Burgundy. The Clos des Carles vineyard, located at the southernmost point of Pouilly-Fuisse, is a historic vineyard that dates back more than 100 years. As soon as Mr. Merlan and Mr. Dominique stepped into the vineyard, they immediately felt the potential and greatness of the vineyard. Overlooking the Saône River, this century-old vineyard is a monopoly surrounded by a long series of high stone walls (Clos).

The oldest vines in the 2.23ha vineyard were planted almost 100 years ago in 1917. They decided to pool their experience and know-how to create a wine that would surpass any Pouilly-Fuisse ever produced.
