This wine captures the classic grape character of our estate grapes - vibrant and complex.

We are dedicated to making the finest Chardonnay, and we take great care to ensure that no detail is overlooked.

In the vineyards, success is down to planting the ideal clones for each block, managing yields for optimal maturity and balance, and above all, the dedicated work of the team.

This wine is made using a total of nine clones, including our own proprietary Chalk Hill Chardonnay Clone 97.

Chardonnay is a grape that demonstrates the winemaker's skill, and through wild yeast fermentation, aging in select French oak barrels and frequent stirring of the lees, the winemaker's own style is expressed.

It's a wine that takes a lot of work, but the rewards are definitely worth the effort and attention.

The 2022 Estate Chardonnay is creamy, rich and elegant with complex aromas and flavors of baked bread, pear, hazelnut and toasted marshmallow.

This wine is known for its full-bodied mouthfeel and exquisitely long finish, and is of exceptional quality and able to age well.

The 2022 vintage was also warm and fast-paced.

Warm temperatures continued into summer, setting the stage for ripe, fresh acidity and beautifully balanced fruit.

Founded in 1972, Chalk Hill is the only 100% estate winery in the Chalk Hill AVA in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley.

The winery is surrounded by our own vineyards, which are unique in terms of topography, climate and geology, and are extremely diverse.

Its location between the cooler Russian River and warmer Alexander Valley allows it to get the best of both worlds, allowing it to grow world-class Burgundy and Bordeaux varieties for both red and white wines.

Beneath the topsoil lies a layer of chalk-coloured volcanic ash, which gives the Chalk Hill AVA its name.

Chalk Hill also runs the largest and longest running Chardonnay clone trial in California.

As well as exploring the best location and clonal combinations, we also experiment with different clonal selections to add nuance and complexity to our wines.

This relentless pursuit of quality is the standard by which all grape growing and winemaking at Chalk Hill Estate is judged.

Winemaker Courtney Foley ensures that each bottle truly expresses the essence of the vineyard.
