A blend of grapes from Sonoma, Napa, Calaveras County, and the Sierra Foothills, all of which come together in a chorus of flavors.

Ovid's experiment began in 2000 when they planted vineyards in their own vineyards, testing the growth conditions of four types of rootstocks and several grape varieties under different cultivation methods and harvest timings. This is the fourth time they have produced a white wine.

In most past vintages, some of the Sauvignon Blanc has been in skin contact prior to fermentation, giving the wine texture and weight that complements the direct-pressed variety.

In 2019, we experimented with direct pressing all of our Sauvignon Blanc grapes, whole bunches, in hopes of achieving the best possible expression of the fruit.

Fermentation took place in barrels of various sizes and blending took place in January.

The lees were stirred twice a month for eight months prior to bottling.

The conventional wisdom about whole-cluster pressing is that it retains more fruit flavor and results in a cleaner expression, and this experiment demonstrated that this is indeed the case.

This wine has plenty of fruit, is lively, fresh and full of purity.

We confirmed that the characteristics of whole-cluster pressing were clearly evident, and since the characteristics and condition of grapes vary depending on the vintage and fruit, we decided to use this technique in the future if necessary.

We also conducted skin contact experiments with other varieties.

Each experiment is a one-off and will never be made the same way twice. Enjoy the rarity of each one.
