[Genealogy of Super Tuscan created by 15 international winemakers with 100 points]

Arcanum is located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, on the southeastern edge of Chianti Classico, bordering the old walled town of Sangusumé, not far from Siena. The Jackson family purchased this 2,500-acre winery in 1994, when brand ambassador Julia Jackson was six years old. Having grown up spending summers at the winery and falling in love with its beauty and diversity, she brings Jackson's passion and dedication to wine to Arcanum. Arkanum is produced by world-renowned winemaker Pierre Sayllant for his achievements in Bordeaux and California. The encounter with Sayan and the Jackson family was in the mid-90s, and Barbara Bank and Pierre, who found the potential in Sonoma County's diverse terroir and micro-cru, could freely make their own wine.

About wine

Made from grapes harvested from the relatively cool Valadona and Capraia plots. This parcel of sandy brown soil is naturally irrigated by streams running through the property, making it the slowest harvesting area of the Merlot parcel. The exotic spices of jasmine, vanilla and cumin rise from the glass, followed by fruity aromas of black cherry and raspberry. The mouthfeel is slightly acidic, but smooth and enveloping tannins accentuate the blueberry pie flavors and cherry freshness. The finish is long with sweet notes of cedar and cigar, making for an elegant wine that you can enjoy to the end. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Wine Advocate 95 points, James Suckling 94 points, Gambero Rosso 2019 Trevicchieri won

About Producer

Tenuta di Arceno is an Italian wine estate situated in the renowned wine-producing region of Chianti . Sangiovese -based wines, producing a series of Chianti Classico Wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva and Strada Al Sasso.

The estate has an extensive history dating back to the early part of the 16th Century when the Del Taja family began gradually gathering together a collection of Chianti vineyard parcels. Today, the 1000 hectare (2500 acre) property is owned by the Jackson Family Wines Group , which also owns Californian producers Kendall-Jackson .

Approximately 92ha (220 acres) of the estate is devoted to vineyards. Sangiovese is the most widely planted grape variety here and occupies a total of 34ha (84 acres), with small plots dedicated to Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon , Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot . In order to get the best out of its vineyards, Tenuta di Arceno has divided them into 63 distinct "micro-crus", each of which is planted to its own unique combination of grapes, clones and rootstocks.

Each micro-cru is harvested and vinified separately to give the winemaker more choice when it comes to blending. However, Tenuta di Arceno's flagship Strada Al Sasso wine, the Sangiovese grapes are sourced from only one block in one single vineyard.

The Tenuta di Arceno wine portfolio also encompasses three Super Tuscan wines produced under its Arcanum label. These wines are based on varying blends of three key grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The estate's terrain is typified by hillsides spanning from a minimum of 1000 feet (300 meters) above sea level to over 1750ft (500m). These slopes consist of a diverse range of soils from clay, to sandstone, to basalt and hard schist.
