Arcanum is located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, on the southeastern edge of Chianti Classico, bordering the old walled town of Sangusumé, not far from Siena. The Jackson family purchased this 2,500-acre winery in 1994, when brand ambassador Julia Jackson was six years old. Having grown up spending summers at the winery and falling in love with its beauty and diversity, she brings Jackson's passion and dedication to wine to Arcanum. Arkanum is produced by world-renowned winemaker Pierre Sayllant for his achievements in Bordeaux and California. The encounter with Sayan and the Jackson family was in the mid-90s, and Pierre, who found the potential in Sonoma County's diverse terroir and micro-cru, responded to Barbara Bank and an offer that he could freely make his own wine. Since his debut in 1998, he has started Verite, earning 100 Parker points more than 10 times. In 2001, we also created Anacota, Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard in Knights Valley with a unique terroir in Sonoma, and Arcanum in Tuscany the following year. Three types of wines have been released that express the different characteristics of the winery's land, and among them, "Arkanum", which stands at the top, is mainly Cabernet Franc, full and rich with exotic aromas such as violet, rose and raspberry. It's a wine. The Merlot-based “Vara Dona” features a rich, mineral finish. The most basic “Il Fauno” is also a rich Bordeaux blend that expresses the diversity of soils and topography. Seiyan is also responsible for cultivation. There are 10 mesoclimatic wineries at altitudes of 1,000 to 1,500 feet (specific vineyard characteristics up to 10-100 meters; elevation, soil, distance from water sources, etc. affect) and 12 diverse wineries, including Galestro, which is unique to Tuscany. Located on fertile soil, the vineyard spreads over 200 acres and is divided into 63 small plots of "micro-cru" planted with varieties suitable for each terroir. It is an area that varies greatly depending on the vintage, but thanks to the optimized environment for growing grapes, some parcels and varieties always produce excellent grapes every year. In particular, Cabernet Franc is the most compatible variety of soil and topography, and is a representative variety of wineries that adapts to changes in weather. We are looking forward to further expanding Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Franc in the Chianti Classico region. Arkanum is named after the meaning of the mystery of nature. The wine label used by the winery, which originated before the ancient Roman-Etruscan civilization, has the motif of Ilfauno, the god of nature, countryside and forests in Roman mythology, and the stone statue stands as a guardian to watch over the winery.
About wine
A captivating yet profound wine with aromas of violet, rose and raspberry followed by subtle spice notes that linger. Beginning with toasted sage, roasted fennel seeds, dried rosemary, rhubarb and rose potpourri, the scent is unique in that it is not fruity. It then develops into dried cherries, red plums and blackberries, and the palate is more fruity than the nose might suggest. Ripe boysenberries, pomegranate, blackberry liqueur and candied black cherries fill the palate with the first herbs and flowers. The finish is fringed with dry stony minerals. Tannins, ALC, and acidity are medium to high, typical of traditional Tuscany. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (70% new). Wine Spectator 93 points, James Suckling 92 points
