COMMENT
AOC Saint-Romain is hidden deep in the hills of the Côte de Beaune, which stretches from north to south. In recent years, the quality of its wines has improved, and it has been attracting attention as a "Qualité Prix" wine-producing region. The vineyards are located on high slopes, producing wines with good acidity and rich minerals.
Domaine Germain is a family-run winery in Saint-Romain that has been in operation for three generations. It currently owns 14 hectares of vineyards. Since 2010, it has also been a member of the Vignerons Indépendants, a group of winemakers that respects the diversity of the terroir and the know-how of their winemaking.
WINEMAKING
The soil is clay-limestone. The grapes are all hand-picked. Fermentation takes place in wooden fermentation tanks and aging takes place in Burgundy barrels (1/3 of which are new barrels from Allier).
