Average age of vines: 40 years. Blend of 8 plots. 50% sand, 50% Gare-Roulet. Blend of 8 plots. 100% healthy grapes selected and hand-picked in the field are destemmed. Fermented for 3.5 weeks in 60% tronconic barrels and 40% stainless steel tanks. In 1912, Eugène Maret, grandfather of the current owner Michel Maret, purchased the Domaine to give to his wife, who was born and raised here and is the daughter of a local winemaker. His son and Maret's father, Fernand Maret, took over part of the current Domaine and expanded it with the birth of his son Maret.

Michel Maret started working at the Domaine in 1972 and named the Domaine Charbonnières (Charbon means charcoal, and there was a charcoal kiln in this area) in 1978. Currently, Michel Maret owns 21.5 hectares of vineyards.

The Domaine is located in the central-eastern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC, on the north-eastern edge of the village of Charbonnières, and owns 17.5 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

In 2004, we purchased large wooden barrels (46-50hl) and have been fermenting and aging the wine in these barrels. Fermentation in these large wooden barrels results in a smooth and silky wine.

Since 2008, we have been practicing organic farming methods and are focusing more on grape cultivation.

Since 2009, the second daughter, Véronique, has been in charge of winemaking, and the eldest daughter, Caroline, is in charge of marketing.
