A blend of grapes purchased from contract growers in Ampuis and the Ardège plains and grapes from the company's own vineyards (4-15 years old). Mica soil. Located on mountaintops and slopes. Yield: 45hl/ha. Jean-Michel has used his own name as the domaine since 1987, and since the mid-1990s his reputation and popularity have soared, and he is now one of the leading producers in Côte-Rôtie. He says that "grape cultivation is the most important element in wine production," and cultivates grapes in conditions as close to nature as possible, while keeping the yield (24-30hl/ha) low, selecting and brewing fully ripe and healthy grapes. From 2020, he has started a new challenge by cultivating grapes using organic methods. The ratio of new oak is 30-100% and the wine is aged for 12-24 months. The red is 100% Syrah (with some 5-10% Viognier mixed in).
The white wine is 100% Viognier. Now, with the participation of his two sons, this is a producer that maintains its traditions while also being expected to undergo further transformation.
